The Paper Doll Project

Today is an outfit post where someone else styled me!

Welcome to the Paper Doll Project!

It was started by Suze from Miss Vinyl Ahoy. She pairs you up with a partner and you style each other.  My lovely partner was Lisa from Sweet Laundry Loves and I had her style an outfit around these yellow shorts.

Voila!

My first urge with these shorts is to tuck in a shirt and make them completely preppy or girly.  So when Lisa suggested a flowy blouse, lots of bangles, and some chunky shoes.  “sort of a bohemian/hippie look”  I was surprised because I never would have thought of that. I racked my brain for the perfect pieces.

This was not the blouse I envisioned, I wanted an oversized loose peasant blouse, but this is what I had, layered on the necklaces, chose my chunkiest wedges  and LOVED the effect!

Tank: Forever 21

Shorts: Jenny Han

Wedges: Gifted

Jewelry: a mix of vintage and cheap pieces

Thanks Lisa for such a great style, I can’t wait to try it with other things too. Thanks Suze for such a great project! Can’t wait to participate again in July!

Most Embarrasing Outfit Post So Far

This is by far the most embarrassing outfit post I’ve ever done. Nope, not because of the pictures, because of what happened while I tried to take these pictures! These were rushed so forgive, please!

We live in an apartment complex, so finding a good location to take a picture by yourself semi-privately can be difficult . Hello, camera remote and tripod!  I started out by the fence across the parking lot right about 6pm.  Why, why, why?

As I was trying to place the tripod/look through view finder, a truck rolled up.  I tried to wave him on but he wanted to talk. Proceed panic lying and awkward conversation!  Lord, please forgive my panic lie. Thank you, Amen!

Him: “Are you taking a picture of the fence?” Me (panicked): “Yes”

Him: “Are you a photographer?” Me: “Trying to be”

Him: “Are you in school for it?” Me: “No, just amateur.”

Him: “Well, I need to talk to you another day, I’ve got a camera that I don’t know how to work.”

….awkward silence….. He waved himself away.

So, I run out to test about where I should stand. Then run back 1/2 way there cause I’m already mortified.  Walking toward me is another man whose been sitting in the car with his wife, watching the whole scene..

Him: “Do you want me to take a picture? We were watching you and just wondered if you needed any help? We felt bad.”

Me, holding up remote: “Oh, thank you so much, I’ve got a remote, that’s so nice of you…”

I’m beyond embarrased at this point and just move the whole tripod to right in front of our door, snap 4-8 photos, and ran up stairs.  I know I’m not the first blogger to go through an awkward session but this was my first.  One day, I’ll be less shy about it…until then.

Blouse: Forever 21

Shorts: Forever 21

Sandals: BKE

P.S.  I love this color combo.  After watching Trend-E! segment on E! News naming it one of the hottest trends of the season, I was dying to try blush and red.   I’m so in love with these shorts that I got them in black too. Prepare to see both pairs alot this spring/summer!  This blouse is beyond one of my fave pieces.  I love the “Fake’em out Necklace” neckline.

We have 20 minutes of daylight, HURRY!

This is not my favorite outfit.  And to be completely honest, this was a five minute outfit.  I wanted desperately wanted to to an outfit post over the weekend.  So about 20 til dark on Friday I ran to my closet threw this on, threw my hair up and ran outside.  Its not quite the tights and boots combo I wanted but it was in the 70′s.

We got to shoot this with our new camera.  Hubs and I bought our big Xmas gift before so we can enjoy it.  Its a Canon EOS Rebel.  I’m in LURVE!!  Can you tell a difference in picture quality?  You will be able to tell in my next DIY post.

Wearing:

BKE Pink Thermal Long Sleeve Tee

Forever 21 Grey Pencil Skirt

Forever 21 Black Stretch Woven Belt

Limited Too Silver/Black Leg Warmers (from about 6 years ago that I’ve NEVER worn!)  Theres a time for everything!

Aldo Black Boots (my Christmas present 2 years ago.)

Accessories:  Forever 21 Feather Earrings, Wedding Rings, Sterling Silver Rings, Vintage Bracelet from Mom (forgot to get it in the picture.) and Vintage checked cat eye sunglasses

P.S. Knees are very hard to make look attractive in a photo, so please ignore!

This last picture had to be included because my lil Lela snuck into a picture and even by her look she knew she shouldn’t be there. It was too adorable.

I promise next time I’ll put more time and thought into the whole process!

Rainy day, let’s have some fun!

So Monday was rainy, but it didn’t stop taking photos for this post. After looking through these pictures. I realized that everthing I was wearing but the shoes were from Forever 21. The shirt, skirt, belt, jacket, even the bracelet.

I am in no way sponsored, or in connection with F21, but it just makes me realize how obessed I am with there clothing. WHOOPS!

It was rainy, thus the umbrella, but it made a great prop. This is probably the only outfit post I’ll ever do with my glasses on. I got new contacts!!! YAY!

These are my two favorite pictures from the whole day. Hubs once again obliged and took pictures.  I secretly think he likes trying out his photography skills.

Feels Like Fall

Feels like fall, so let’s try another outfit post.  This week has felt like fall!  Monday (day of this outfit) was cool and more fall like than ever this year.  So of course,  I had to dress for the occasion! From grocery shopping to hosting Monday Night Football, this was the perfect casual running around outfit. Dinner consisted of wings, chips, salsa, brownies, and beer.  I stayed in the master to watch a juicy episode of Gossip Girl.  Hubs was nice enough to take these pics for me before the game started.  Thanks, hun! He was already happy because he won in Fantasy Football from Sunday.  Something I will never understand.  Can we have a fantasy leauge for Fashion Week?! Someone jump on that..
