Pam Am Eye Makeup..a tutorial

MAKEUP WEEK

I’m obsessed with the girls’ make up on ABC’s Pan Am.  The subtle little cat eye/winged eyeliner look is gorgeous!  I finally found the perfect eyeliner (I’m also using it for my Halloween costume, so it still abides by No Buy October rules!) and decided to make a tutorial! Here’s a little video on how to achieve their cat eye eyeliner look!.

….What I Used….
Eyeliner: Maybelline Line Stiletto in Blackest Black
Mascara: Maybeline Lash Stiletto in Blackest Black
Eyeshadow: Too Faced “Naked Eye” Palette

This was my first makeup tutorial video! What did you think? Are you on board with the winged eyeliner trend?

Outfit of the Day: Tan and Stripe Inspiration/Copy

These pictures were rushed because this was about 5 minutes before we were supposed to leave for dinner. Whoops! BUT this whole outfit was inspired by a picture on pinterest! Surprise, Surprise! Course I didn’t have the exact same thing so I improvised with my closet!  Here we go:

INSPIRATION:

What’ do you think?

I chose a a striped embellished shirt, a black belt, black heels, tan pants, and chuncky silver jewelry.

I put in clip-in extensions in the bottom half of my hair to make an extra long straight ponytail.

Shirt: Buckle

Belt: came with something else

Pants: Forever 21

Heels: Jessica Simpson

Bracelet: Vintage

Ring: Forever 21

I really loved the menswear inspired feel of this look.  I felt very preppy!  I’m gonna try this more often!

Pretty for Fall: Trina Turk Fall 2011 Look Book

Trina Turk’s Fall 1 Look Book is themed on “Come Fly With Me”.  All the clothing has a vintage 60′s vibe with a little “air” flair!  It might be the prettiest thing I’ve seen in a LONG time!  This is what I want my fall wardrobe to look like!  I intend to save these photos for fall inspiration and maybe a few diys!!  Read my notes* to myself below.

What I Want Right Now, But Would You Wear It?

Usually my posts are though out ahead of time.  This one is NOT.  It is a sudden have-to-share-NOW post.

Going through my usual twitter/facebook/bloglovin’ reading routine, I came across this article on Glamour.  Its a dickey?!  Do you remember these?  I do from when I was little!  My mom had some turtle neck ones that I had to wear in the Christmas parades!

Explanation: Sometimes in November in Texas, it’s still 80 degrees. And when you have to wear your dance studio’s white sweatsuit (it was the 90′s! what do you expect!) and optional black turtle neck, it gets a little hot.  *shout out..Hi Star Makers!  I only took dance there for a few 8 years. I kinda <3 it*  Ahem, anyway, mom made me wear let me borrow her black turtle neck dickey to avoid wearing a full HOT turtle neck!    Oh, how I wish I had my childhood pictures to share a photo of said dickey!   So back to the Glamour article……see this….

Lovely, isn’t it?  The top of her dress is a dickey!!!  I’m in love!  I want a few of these NOW!  They are from a company called CeCe Toppings.  They offer lots to different styles, patterns, colors!

They also boast “great for teens who’s school has a dress code.” Duh! What a good idea! Ok, so I’m a little enamored!

These are the ones I want:

I’m a little stuck on the ruffle ones! I can think of so many combos of dresses and shirts, but with No Buy July starting, I’ll have to dream a little longer!

What do you think of these dickeys..er..”toppings”? Would you wear one?

FBFF: How Has My Style Changed Through Blogging

Its been a hot minute since I’ve participated in FBFF. But here we go!

1.    Since you began blogging do you notice a change in the types of
things you gravitate towards while shopping?

I find myself loving more vintage inspired items, more prints, and more structured/tailored pieces.  I feel like I’m learning how to dress my body in the best ways and finding more flattering items every shopping trip.

2.    Do you find, as a fashion blogger, that you dress differently from
your family and friends? Do they comment on that?

Usually at family functions, I’m the over-dresser. I’ve always worn what I wanted which equaled alot of skirts and dresses, which people tend to think of as fancier than they really are.  As I’ve gotten married and inherited some great in-laws, they’ve noticed it.  Its always good comments but I’ve noticed. *brag*  My niece actually said something beyond sweet about it just the other day, “Your clothes are always so pretty!”

3.    What’s the weirdest fashion that you secretly like, even if you
aren’t bold enough to wear it?

I love love love socks with heels/wedges/etc.  So much so that it was on my fall trend list! Others have pulled it off so flawlessly but I’m just to chicken.  I even have the perfect shoes for it.  Maybe I’ll try it in the fall!

4.    Looking at current trends – what would you like to try but need to
build up the courage to do?

I want to try a pleated skirt.  Probably a short one.  Its not lack of courage on this one, it’s lack of funds.  I’ve chosen to buy other things with that money and with No Buy July starting in just a few days, this trend will just have to wait!

5.    Toot someone’s horn – what fashion blogger out there inspires you
with her bold fashion choices? I’m completely head over heels for Kendi Everyday! I want her closet! She inspires me while always looking flawless!

She knows how to style things from her closet again and again and again,  when to add the right pieces and always wears just the accessories! Plus, she’s really damn cool! From her writing, I feel like I just wanna hang out with her.
