This has taken me entirely too long, but I’m finally getting to it.  MJ at Fierce tagged me.  What? Huh? She asks a few ??’s and I give a few answers, so here we go. 

If you could design your own fashion line with only one type of clothing, what would it be? 

• I would designs shirts/blouses.  I am so picky when it comes to finding shirts to go with pants, shorts, and skirts.  Not too tight, not too loose, the right sleeve length—they would be kick ass!

What’s beauty items are in your purse right now? 

Too many!  Lip gloss, Lip Smackers, Cover Girl Charcoal Eyeliner, two tubes of Mascara (didn’t realize I already had on in there!) and an E.L.F. eye shadow palatte. 

What won’t you be caught dead wearing? 

• hhmm…I hate to pin point anything!  I swore I’d never wear clogs, but I’m digging the trend this year.  Socks and heels used to be gross but now I can’t wait to try it. Just gotta work up the guts!

What’s your favorite beauty brand? 

• Benefit Cosmetics!  love love love Some Kind of Gorgeous.  Their colors are amazing. I could stare at their displays all day, and test the makeup for hours!

What is the one thing in your closet you can’t live without? 

ooh, hard question.  I’ll say my black patent heels. They are my go-to! 

What’s the worst hairstyle you ever had? 

When I was ten-ish,  I insisted on cutting my hair chin length and wearing those thick jersey headbands. Not great! 

Your best piece of beauty/fashion advice is…. 

If its not comfortable, take it off.

I’m tired of the heat. Sick and tired of it.  For the last few weeks, the average temperature has been 100 degrees.  While usually the temps may begin to drop in other states, around here it’s gonna stay hot.   See, we don’t really get a fall.  (Two Thanksgivings ago, it was 75 degrees)  We get hotness that one day finally really drops to cold.  This eliminates any chance to wear cute Fall clothes! *tears*  And I’m ready to wear sweaters, jackets, tights, and boots!  So, how do you accomplish this in such a warm “fall”? Transition carefully!  Let’s break it down in this Quick Style Guide:

Pants:

I’ve lived in skirts/dresses and shorts for the past 2 ½ months.  And I’ve loved it, but I’m ready to pull on some pants now. To make it feel more like the fall that it should be slip on a pair of jeans. Just like jean shorts, you can wear practically anything with your jeans.  Choose a dark wash to accent the wonderful fall shades.   If you’re not quite ready to cover up those ankles, roll your jeans up.  Voila! Pegged jeans! The perfect in between!

Jackets/Cardis:

Oh, how I love fall jackets! Trench coats are nothing I could ever wear around here in the fall only in winter. If you’re in the same boat, look for short sleeve jackets with lots of style.  I.E. Cute cuts, Interesting fabrics, Bold colors, Unique hardware/embellishments, or Distinctive collar.  Play it up! Have fun with it! You’ll be able to pull out that boyfriend blazer soon enough! (I’m dying to wear mine!)  Wear them with skirts and dresses for a different twist. Suggesstion: look for lighter weight fabrics!  NO wool or tweed, too hot! Cardis have pretty much the same rules! Lightweight fabrics, pretty details, perfect!

Shirts:

You wanna wear long sleeves, but think you’ll pass out if you do? On a little bit cooler day, pair a long sleeve(pushed up) or ¾ length sleeve shirt with your shorts. The effect is always cute, and still keeps you cool! Also, chose lightweight fabrics or sheer! Put a cami on under a sheer shirt/blouse for cool fall look!

Shoes:

Boots oh how I love you! How I can’t wait to wear tights with you.  But now, you make my feet/legs hot. Same for you, eh?  For an easier transistion, try booties, or ankle boots! Not quite as tall on your calf, and not nearly as hot!  Or try on a pair of oxfords! You’d be amazed how cute and trendy they really are! 

And it just so happens that today, I’m wearing jeans and a short sleeve jacket, since it’s a nice cooler 90 degrees.  Compared to the 120 degrees on black concrete, today’s temperature feels like the beginning of fall!

Reality: the New Dress A Day blog

Marisa decided that she “will be foregoing trips to Bloomies and Nordstrom for brand new gear. Goodbye to H&M purchases and accessory grabbing at Forever 21. And seeing the “must have” French Connection dress in People’s Style Watch will just have to suffice as a cut out on my inspiration board.

Instead, the only shopping that I’ll be able to do is that of pieces that have been used and worn already.  So long to mall trips and hello to sifting through piles of vintage pieces at flea markets and at neighborhood garage sales. Each day for the entire year, I’m going to introduce a new piece into my existing wardrobe that I’ve found from these places.  On top of this, I’m giving myself a budget of $1 a day.” [NewDressADay]

So the yahoo article got me interested and I was hooked. I spent the next 2 hours reading through her whole year so far (which will come to an end in Nov.).  The stuff she had done is amazing. My favorites are the befores/afters, of course! The fact that she buys these clothes, some that are truly awful to look at much less wear, and turns them into such chic little dresses, skirts and tops is motivating!

After all my reading I was so inspired to grab my sewing machine and head to Good Will and sew my heart out, knowing this wouldn’t work on MANY levels.  A) I don’t know how to sew B) I don’t know how to sew.  Regardless, I’m getting inspiration and happiness from Marisa’s blog and tune in everyday to see how the muumuu becomes the floral mini!  Take a look at some of my fave of her transformations!

NEWSFLASH:

Let’s talk about one of this fall’s biggest trends: clogs

I must warn you I’m slightly horrified. I think they are *gasp* ugly, and hard to wear!  Chanel brought’em back and now they are everywhere!  They’ve become mainstream, and exactly on trend for the fall. Target and Aldo have CLOG categories on their websites!

I have a few problems with these shoes

A) I’m short, when I wear them, I look like I have hooves and even shorter legs. 

B) I’m confused how to wear these, I guess with pants only right?

C) I get horrific flashbacks to when I was 10 and had a pair of patent leather black glitter clogs. Oh Yes, I did.  While I loved them at the time, looking back that was a bad fashion moment!

D) I’m clumsy, I need a strap on the back or I’m gonna fall flat on my face.

I’m not completely sold on this trend and probably won’t participate!

What I really want to know is, what do you think? Are you going to wear clogs this fall/winter season? How will you rock yours?

 P.S. I like the look of these “clogs” from Target though they don’t seem so “clog-like” to me.

Hhm…I see a visit to target in my future and at least 2 pairs of shoes!

It has to be said that almost 85% of my wardrobe is from Forever 21. Its my favorite store and we don’t even have one in my town.  So this leaves very few places I actually shop in my town.

My favorite shopping spot in Tyler!

Its been around for quite a while, I’ve been shopping there about 4 years. I pass the window every day driving to work, checking out the mannequins to see the outfits and which ones have changed.  I’ve gotten some great dresses here.  The most notable one being the strapless one I wore at my annual Christmas party. Strapless, geometric print, and black/metallic! YES PLEASE!

I really do love 8^th Street Boutique! Their clothes/accessories are moderately priced, extremely cute and not mass production.  I definitely won’t find others in my same outfit. They have great sales and adorable store!  Located in Bergfeld Center, its easy to find and they are open a while after 5 which gives me browsing time after work!

Qué horror!!!  This morning en route to work, GONE, GONE, GONE!  Empty windows and small note on the door!

At the stoplight, I sat dumbfounded and looked around. 

Qué luck!!! They moved across the street, directly across to a bigger location! Same decorative lights, pink walls, and more!  Oh I’m saved!  Bonus: Bigger building = more clothes!

I haven’t had a chance to go in yet but I’m counting the minutes until I can. Oh, darn you prior commitments or I would go after work!

Loves, it may be the hottest part of August (yesterday got up to 105 degrees!) but I’m already dreaming of tights, cardis and all fall clothes.  The back to school clothes ads don’t help either!  Of course,  I need a whole new wardrobe for school, even though I don’t attend anymore.  Let’s shop!   Well I’ve rounded up a few of my fave looks and ideas in this edition of Love My Links:
