I’ve got winter wedding reception to attend this Friday! Whoo hoo! Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Z! I’m about 90% of what I’m gonna wear (black and gold), how to do my hair (long waves, maybe bows) , and how to do my makeup (red lips and winged eyeliner). Here’s what’s inspired me!
This month we got to try out Maybelline’s New Baby Lips, Mine came in an adorable pinktube with a bright pink stick, the pink punch “flavor”. Maybelline boasts “No more basic lip balm. Lip renew formula and 8-hr hydration for visibly renewed lips in 4 weeks. Clinical care for baby-soft lips.” (about)
I’m a huge fan of any kind of lip balm so when this came in the mail, I was thrilled. I am all about this new lip balm. It’s soft and smells good and kept my lips soft all day long. I think what I love most was the punch of color that came with it. I started layering it with my lipstain to achieve the perfect color combo. Baby Lips comes in 6 shades, (2 are colorless). I loved this stuff so much that I also went and picked up the “Cherry Me” flavor. At $3.99, it is a steal. Would make a great little stocking stuffter!!

There is no rhyme or reason to this edition of Love my Links. Just fun!
Love Maegan transformed regular black pumps into adorable houndstooth heels! (not for the DIY faint of heart.)
Katy Rose of Modly Chic paired her leopard shirt with flares and red, inspiring a few new outfits for myself!
I found my way back to this awesome scarf dress diy from The Glamourai. Seems easy enough with a gorgeous result. Might be a new spring project!
Dash’s Cat Eye Closeup is such a pretty glance at my favorite new makeup trend. The cat eye! If only I were brave enough to get that close to my face with my camera.
That’s a few fun links to get you through your day! Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did! Have a lovely Tuesday!
It’s only my new favorite beauty go to site! I stumbled upon some of their great tutorials through pinterest and tracked the sources down to The Beauty Department. From makeup tips to hair how to’s, they have you covered. And its not random, untrusted names!
Here’s the low down:
“This is a site for anyone who’s ever had a beauty question or gotten into a fight with a hair brush and lost. We’ll be covering all kinds of hair+makeup how-to’s, nail trends, skin issues, tools, current obsessions & inspirations, as well as countless quick tips. In the process we are truly excited to get to know all of you! We want to read your emails and we want you to participate in our voting polls so we can figure out exactly what you need! We want to make beauty as accessible as possible. We’re releasing new things every day including videos, printable photo tutorials and exclusive images of our lovely Lauren Conrad.
XO Lauren Conrad, Kristin Ess and Amy Nadine!”
You read that right! LAUREN CONRAD. She’s a personal favorite celeb of mine and now she’s using her celebrity power in the name of beauty! She teamed up with her professional hair stylist (Kristen Ess) and makeup artist (Amy Nadine) to for The Beauty Department. So it is sources you can actually trust with insider knowledge!
They post every day and they include such fun stuff as:
They’ve got video makeup and hair tutorials to die for! The latest…the french braid! I also learned how to do a fishtail braid from their tutorials! Easy to understand and great to watch it done. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve paused, rewound, and rewatched quite a few of these videos!
I have to say I can’t get enough of this site. I scroll through tutorials quite often to find inspiration and even their tweets with beauty tidbits are awesome!
If you haven’t had a chance to see The Beauty Department before, take a moment now. It’ll be worth it!
*this post is just full out love for TBD! No funny business…just good pure adoration*
I’m obsessed with the girls’ make up on ABC’s Pan Am. The subtle little cat eye/winged eyeliner look is gorgeous! I finally found the perfect eyeliner (I’m also using it for my Halloween costume, so it still abides by No Buy October rules!) and decided to make a tutorial! Here’s a little video on how to achieve their cat eye eyeliner look!.
….What I Used….
Eyeliner: Maybelline Line Stiletto in Blackest Black
Mascara: Maybeline Lash Stiletto in Blackest Black
Eyeshadow: Too Faced “Naked Eye” Palette
This was my first makeup tutorial video! What did you think? Are you on board with the winged eyeliner trend?
