From 9 to 5: Removing Pillow Extras

I guess that I can finally reveal: WE ARE BUYING A HOUSE! Yay! I’ve alluded to it before and finally feel comfortable telling you.  I feel like it’s just a dream that I could wake up from any moment, but no it’s reality and in just a few short weeks, we’ll be in our perfect house.

That being said, my extra time has now going to packing, figuring out how we can take our current rooms and make them work in the house, and cleaning out.

Of course this has lead to excessive pins on my home boards on Pinterest!    As I’ve drooled through bedrooms and pretty places, I realize what a statement pillows can make in a bedroom.

Can I tell you I’m kind of obsessed with pretty pillows?  It’s a funny little dance that hubbie and I play when we discuss pillows.  He puts up with them so well and only asks that they are comfortable.  But, I kind of got out of hand in our bedroom though.  There are 9 pillows on our bed.

NINE!

That’s too many!  So as a challenge to myself, I’ve determined that when we move we will only have 5 pillows on our bed.

1+2=the ones we sleep on

3+4=shams or bigger pillows (maybe with a pattern or something to make a statement.

5=a decorative pillow with textures and color

Wish me luck! Pillow Obsession is a hard thing to curb.

Are you in love with pillows? Do you have an overabundance?

PS: Here’s some pretty inspiration!

What I Want To Wear: Printed Bottoms

Can I tell you how obsessed I am with printed shorts and jeans this spring/summer?

It all started with striped shorts.

These BCBG shorts have stolen my heart.  I’ve tried them on and can think of a million ways to style them.  And while horizontal stripes aren’t always the most flattering, these look pretty cute!! o.b.s.e.s.s.e.d.

Then came animal print denim…

Was totally inspired by Jessica of Bows & Sequins and how she styled her leopard print! So simple but such an impact.  And while I can’t remember the exact blog that I saw the light pink leopard print denim, I fell in love!

and how sweet are floral shorts AND pants!?

I actually have a pair of floral shorts from last year that I can’t wait to break out!!  And Joanne at Fabulously Average is a master of wearing floral pants.  I seriously envy her bold & adorable stylings.

What do you think of patterned and printed bottoms?

Two Happy Years..

let’s get sentimental for just a moment.  Today, my husband and I celebrate 2 years of marriage.  It’s gone by so quickly it feels like just yesterday.  We’ve been such a pair for almost 8 years that it’s kind of hard to remember the days before he was in my life.   Almost all of the best, funniest, weirdest moments of my life have been with him.  He’s my absolute best friend, the person who knows me better than myself, the one who challenges me to be better.   The thought of the future isn’t scary with him by my side.  Because it means it’ll be a blast.

I love him.  Simply said.

Of course, we haven’t had a nice picture with each other in a while & when we went to a family wedding this weekend, I seized the opportunity. Know which one I loved the most?  The one of us acting the goofiest!

The Start of Colored Jeans

Hi, Welcome to a blog that hasn’t been updated enough lately! Forgive me! I honestly can’t tell you what I’ve been doing…living life? relaxing? Nothing overly exciting but not here. Certainly I’ve had time to blog, I just haven’t.  But don’t worry that’s not going to continue. It changes NOW.  Last week, I actually did get around to taking outfit photos. And they are awful!  Better that none right? Maybe, Maybe not!?  I promise I’ll be brave enough to venture somewhere beyond my porch one day…oh and also we discovered the hard way that the camera battery charger was left in Austin during the Texas Style Council.  We HAVE to replace it soon! Here are some of the last few shots I managed before it died. womp. womp.

Can I tell you how obsessed I am with colored jeans? It takes all the self control I have to not buy a pair in every color.  So far I just have Red and Mint/Seafoam Green.  And they’ve gotten a TON of use!

I also love this Jason Wu for Target tee (one of two things I got) because it’s super soft and just a little dressier than an average grey tee.

P.S. I’m getting ready to make a few videos, anything you want to see or know how to do? Let me know here! Or facebook or twitter….

Putting My Photography Skills to the Test, I think I passed

This is a post in which I show you the results of my biggest photography challenge yet AND share with you someone that means SO much to me…

Meet Tori.

She is basically my little sister.  We aren’t blood related but family doesn’t have to be by blood.  This girl and me have been through thick and thin together.  I’ve known her for at least 11 years, and she’s now 18 (a highschool senior).  You know how sometimes, you love someone so fiercely that the thought of them being anything but happy is not acceptable.  It’s like that.  Grow up, getting through elementary, middle, high school, & college(me) trying out for cheerleader,  endless dance competitions, spiking volleyballs, crushing on boys, getting through relationships, going through my wedding….I think we’ve been through it all.  Both helping the other.    So when she came to me a few weeks back and asked if I would take her senior pictures for her, I was honored!

  1. because she would put that kind of trust in me!
  2. because she thought that highly of my photography skills!

(though I did make one condition: I was able to post some of the photos here!)

On a Friday afternoon during the golden hour, we wandered to downtown Tyler and got down to business.  I used all the photography skills I have ever learned (specially from TXSC) to take the best pictures possible.  It will forever be one of the best moments with her.  We had such blast running around, posing, and shooting.  Here are the results.

I thought they turned out pretty well! And most of all, she liked them!
